About Licensed Star Trainer training
Licensed Star Trainers are people within organisations who are trained and licensed to run Outcomes Star training in your own organisation.
This train-the-trainer route can support sustainability and can provide a more cost-effective approach for organisations that may have large numbers of staff to train. Please note the Outcomes Star training courses are controlled by copyright and can only be run by Outcomes Star or by others under a signed agreement and licence.
What does Licensed Star Trainer training include?
The Outcomes Star’s Licensed Star Trainer option includes:
- An annual licence to train staff internally in any version of the Outcomes Star
- A train the trainer 14hr training course, split over 2 full days (plus one day to complete the Core Star Training course, if individuals have not previously completed it)
- Courses are delivered face to face, with a remote option if necessary
- Hardcopy and electronic versions of the Outcomes Star Trainer Manual, with trainers notes, handouts and other guidance on running an Outcomes Star training day, which is reviewed regularly
- Access to up-to-date training resources via our Star Online portal
- Regular professional development opportunities, delivered remotely, to meet other Licensed Star Trainers and receive updates and additional training from Outcomes Star
- Access to flexible support via email, ring back, shadowing, and remote meetings throughout the year
- Regular updates
For organisations with three or more people becoming Licensed Star Trainers, Outcomes Star will run the training in-house at your organisation.
Becoming a Licensed Star Trainer costs £2,500 per person (exclusive of VAT) for the first year. To continue to train in the Star, Licensed Star Trainers must renew each year at half price – £1,250 (exclusive of VAT.)

What requirements are needed to join the Licensed Trainer course?
For Licensed Trainers to be effective you will need to ensure that an implementation plan is in place before your Licensed Star trainers start training internally. Trainees must complete a registration form and submit this to Outcomes Star to be booked onto the course – either a training qualification or the ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, experience and skills are desirable but not essential.
Trainees should also have completed the Core Star training course beforehand – Outcomes Star can arrange this at no extra cost as needed.
We also recommend that organisations run an internal recruitment process to identify the best candidates. We can support and advise you with this.
At the end of the Licensed Trainer course, trainers will be awarded a certificate confirming they are licensed to train within your organisation in the Outcomes Star.
In very rare circumstances, where we are not confident of the trainer’s ability, we offer further support, including coaching and/or co-training. There may be an extra cost for this.

Open Licensed Star Trainer Training
For organisations with one or two people becoming Licensed Star Trainers
Our Open training is ideal for organisations with one or two people becoming Licensed Star Trainers.
We run regular Open Licensed Trainer courses. If you are interested in accessing the training please contact your Implementation Lead at Outcomes Star or our client services team for more information about requirements and availability. For organisations with three or more people becoming Licensed Star Trainers, Outcomes Star will run the training in-house at your organisation.

- Online course over 4 half days: 17, 18, 25 & 27 May 2027(core course needs to be completed separately beforehand; no extra cost)
- Face-to-face course in Midlands (Birmingham/Derby): 20 & 21 September; and 5 October 2027(core course included on 20 September)
