Who is the Victim of Crime Star for?
The Victim of Crime Star was developed for people who need support to overcome the impact of crime. This may include dealing with the emotional and practical repercussions of crime as they navigate through the criminal justice or legal systems.
The Star helps them and the services supporting them identify progress towards key outcomes like safety at home, out and about and navigating the legal process, and give clarity on where to focus next.
Using the Outcomes Star approach
The Victim of Crime Star is designed to be used as part of the Outcomes Star approach. That’s why we provide essential training and ongoing support to all licenced practitioners, so you can embed the Outcomes Star approach in your practice.
How does the Victim of Crime Star work?
The Victim of Crime Star covers eight key outcome areas that support people to overcome the impact of crime, and assesses their progress towards each following a five-stage Journey of Change.
You and the people you support will fill out the Star together, and use it to better identify where their strengths lie and where they might need more help, and to make plans for moving forward along the journey.

Always rooted in expertise and experience
The victim of Crime Star was developed in collaboration with Thames Valley Partnership and the Thames Valley Office of Police and Crime Commissioner. The process involved workers, managers, associated professionals and victims of crime from Victim First and the Willow Project in Thames Valley. Staffordshire Victims Gateway and Axis Counselling also contributed.
