Who is the Recovery Star Secure for?
The Recovery Star Secure was developed for people in secure services to gain new skills, understanding and ways of responding to move on from their current setting and have more freedom, choice and control in their life.
The Recovery Star Secure helps them and the services supporting them to identify progress towards key outcomes like managing mental health, dealing with strong feelings, addictive behaviour and relationships, and give clarity on where to focus next.
- Can the Recovery Star Secure be used for people in the criminal justice system?
The Justice Star has been developed for people in the criminal justice system, who may be serving a sentence, approaching release from prison, or are in the community. The Star is designed to help support people to build a crime-free life. This Star is more appropriate for people serving shorter custodial sentences. If you are working with someone serving a longer custodial sentence the Recovery Star Secure may be more appropriate.
Using the Outcomes Star approach
The Recovery Star Secure is designed to be used as part of the Outcomes Star approach. That’s why we provide essential training and ongoing support to all licenced practitioners, so you can embed the Outcomes Star approach in your practice.
How does the Recovery Star Secure work?
The Recovery Star Secure covers nine key outcome areas that help people in secure settings to manage things they find difficult, and assesses their progress toward each following a five-stage Journey of Change.
You and the people you support will fill out the Star together, and use it to better identify where their strengths lie and where they might need more help, and to make plans for moving forward along the journey.
