Parent and Baby Star
For people being supported with perinatal mental health and wellbeing
Who is the Parent and Baby Star for?
The Parent and Baby Star has been developed for parents who may need extra support during the perinatal period (during pregnancy and during the first year after having a baby.)
There can be a lot to deal with during the perinatal period. The Parent and Baby Star helps new parents and the services supporting them to identify progress towards key outcomes like mental and emotional health, housing and essentials, support networks and looking after your baby, and gives clarity on where to focus next.
- I work with younger mums is there a Star for them?
If you work with younger mums during pregnancy or after birth you may want to consider the New Mum Star. It is primarily designed for young, first-time mums but can be used more broadly.
Using the Outcomes Star approach
The Parent and Baby Star is designed to be used as part of the Outcomes Star approach. That’s why we provide essential training and ongoing support to all licenced practitioners, so you can embed the Outcomes Star approach in your practice.
How does the Parent and Baby Star work?
The Parent and Baby Star covers seven key outcome areas that help support new parents manage during the perinatal period, and assesses their progress towards each following a five-stage Journey of Change.
You and the people you support will fill out the Star together, and use it to better identify where their strengths lie and where they might need more help, and to make plans for moving forward along the journey.
