Who is the Little Star for?
The Little Star has been developed for children with motor impairments who are receiving Conductive Education and/or other therapies. It is designed to be completed by a worker who is offering professional support to the child, together with the child’s parent(s) or primary carer(s).
The Little Star helps services and parents/carers to identify progress towards key outcomes like gross motor skills, fine motor skills, cognitive skills and communication, and give clarity on where to focus next.
Using the Outcomes Star approach
The Little Star is designed to be used as part of the Outcomes Star approach. That’s why we provide essential training and ongoing support to all licenced practitioners, so you can embed the Outcomes Star approach in your practice.
How does the Little Star work?
The Little Star covers seven key outcome areas to help children with motor impairments to move towards as much independence as possible for their age, condition and ability. It assesses their progress towards each outcome area following a five-stage Journey of Change.
You and the parent(s) or carer(s) of the child will fill out the Star together and use it to better identify where the child’s strengths lie and where they might need more help, and to make plans for moving along the journey where possible.
